Need some help with DH birthday plans

DHs birthday is Oct 20 and the weekend before his bday I am going to surprise him with a night on the riverwalk (hotel room) he has never really been able to see downtown San Antonio before. I am hoping to spend most of saturday doing some sight seeing (yes the alamo lol) and then having dinner that night on the river. Any ideas for what we should do during the day? I am hoping to make all of it a surprise

Walk down to southtown/king william and have lunch at Madhatters. Then just walk around and look at all of the beautiful houses in the area - there are some amazing ones down there!
