Homestudy scheduled!

We finally got our homestudy scheduled today...we've been waiting on this call for about a month!  October 3rd and 4th... she said to expect about 3 hours on the 3rd and 1 hour on the 4th.  Was your homestudy just what you expected?  Any surprises?  I'm already thinking about the cleaning...Surprise

Just wanted to share!

Re: Homestudy scheduled!

  • Hurray!

Ours was easiere than we expected. We had 2 meetings at the agency, and one at our house. We had been over so much at the agency, the home visit was just a walk-through and a discussion of some home specs and our neighborhood. AND DH cleaned/organized the whole house because I was out of town--he did a great job.

Good luck! It will be here before you know it.

  • Congrats! Another step forward. You will do fine. I was surprised that it went as smoothly as it did with both of our homestudies. If your SW gave you a list of things to have get those things together and be prepare to answer a lot of questions. I am sure you will do fine.

  • congrats!! We've had one homestudy appointment so far (at our social worker's office) and we have our second one (at our home) this Friday.

I really didn't know what to expect for the first meeting, but we ended up mostly going over what we had already written in our bios. We talked a lot about how we reached our decision to adopt, how our family and friends felt about it, how we plan on raising our children... no surprises, pretty much what we had expected.

I have so much cleaning to do too! I was planning on doing some of it last weekend but all I managed to do was turn on the roomba. So much to do... so little time!

    good luck!!

  • Yippie!  It was so easy!  Our first meeting was at a restaurant, her office is 2.5 hours away so we met half way and then our home visit. Cleaning like a maniac is not necessary what-so-ever!  We had the house in order and clean but I didn't go crazy, thanks to the ladies here. Good luck! Can't wait to hear all about it.

  • yay for progress!

I wouldn't go nuts cleaning. They want to know how you live and that you are ready for a child. If things are so neat and orderly, they might get more suspicious.

Ours was much easier than anticipated. I was so worked up the night before and realized i was worked up over nothing.. well, not nothing, but you know! LOL

Just be yourself and you will do great!
