Hi -- I went off BC in June and have not had a period since. My Dr. suggested starting on Clomid but I'm nervous about taking any more medicines since BC is what started this problem. Does anyone have experience with it?
She just mentioned it on the phone yesteday when i set up an appointment for this afternoon -- maybe I heard her wrong?? I could have sworn that's what she said, would that be unusual??
Get a new Dr. Seriously. Before taking any fertility drugs or treatments there are several tests that need to be done. Starting with CD 3 and 7DPO blood work at the very least. In addition you should have a HSG and your husband a SA. In addition you need to be monitored with ultrasounds and bloodwork while on clomid.
Clomid isn't candy and I would run far far away from a Dr, who just casually suggested I take it after only being off BC for 3 months.
Nope, not leaving out part fo teh story....I'm banking on that I misheard her. Please disregard the Question then -- I will hopefully sort it out at today's appointment. But hey, good to know...if she mentions Clomid I'll lace up my running shoes!
You got off BC in July and she wants to put you on clomid? WTF?
Clomid is a drug that works for IF, rx'd after some testing and diagnosis. It's not a drug to be taken lightly, can have side effects (wanna see my ovarian cysts?) and you can only take so much in a lifetime.
It can take months even a year to regulate from bcp.
Any dr. that would recommend clomid after being off bcp for three months is one that does not need to be listened to.
Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.
"It's a child, not a cheeto" Thanks mmariluh!
"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."

That would be very VERY unusual, most likely unnecessary, and possibly dangerous. Ditto the pp's... ask about Provera to help you start a new cycle. It's not unusual to have crazy long cycles after BC and it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you.
If she suggests Clomid again at your appointment I would find a new doctor. Going on fertility meds after 3 months, with no testing or monitoring, is dumb on so many levels.
Re: Clomid Qs
You've been TTC for 3 months or so? And your doctor wants to put you on clomid? Do I have that right?
If so, find a new doctor. Having wacky cycles after BCP is common. At the very least he could give you provera to end this cycle and start a new one.

This. Run away from that doctor. Fast.
Either you've mistaken the name of the medication, or your leaving out part of the story.?

Not to mention that people taking clomid should be monitored via ultrasound for cysts, thinned uterine lining and OHSS.
Any doctor who doesn't monitor their patients on clomid is stupid, IMO.
