Are the support groups usually through the agency? I googled to see if may be there would be some community ones on there, but all it gives me is adoption agencies.
There are a handful in our area, but they're open to international adoptive parents. Maybe try contacting some of the counseling agencies and churches in the area to see if any of them have any?
Our agency doesn't have one and the local support groups are geared more towards international adoption. I'm planning to start a local support group myself, once I get baby home and settled. I figure I'll send a little information flyer to local churches and get our local paper to run a blurb in the Community Calendar section (which is free). I already know a couple of local adoptive moms (domestic), so that's a play date.
Re: Adoptive parent support Groups
There don't seem to be any in our area, but I live in a tiny community.
Our agency has one.

I found several through our local area's adoption/fertility counseling center, and I found others through meetup and some other networking sites.
Also, if you look in the Adoptive Family magazine you may see groups and information sessions available in your area.
