Can you delete yourself from FB?

thinking of signing up but not sure I really want to for various reasons. ?Can you delete your profile/ name?

    You can deactivate your profile, which makes you invisible to everyone, but it is never fully deleted.

    Nope, they pretty much own you.  You can "deactivate" your account.....but your back in business if you ever sign back in for whatever reason.  I signed in to view some pics that a friend emailed me and reactivated my account....and thus the addiction continued.
