I have been dreading the first day back to work but it actually wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I had DH drop her off at daycare just in case I might get upset or be late to work. I went to work and everyone was so nice and welcomed me back. Then, I checked my emails, met with my boss, and started to work on some projects that have been assigned to me. At lunch, I went to the daycare and DD was doing just fine. I also got to talk with the teacher in her room for a half hour while I was there which helped me get to know her better and also gave me more confidence that she is in good hands. Anyway, just wanted to say that it wasn't nearly as traumatic as I thought and I didn't even shed a tear. So, I'm just going to try and stay positive and get through the first week because I know it will be all down hill from there.
Re: My first day back to work wasn't that bad...
I'm so glad. I think once you get back in the swing of work, if your job is busy, that's a good thing. It's possible to get distracted by work.
I think it's VERY smart to hang a while with the daycare person/folks. Chat with them. Get to know them. Joke around with them. They are people, and it's great to get on a personal level - it makes you feel so much more comfortable.
Good for you!!
Aw, I love your new siggy.
I thought the first few weeks were easier b/c I was too busy trying to fix the mess that was left for me while I was on leave! It's harder for me to leave him now that he's older and we have so much fun on the weekends! Every Mon I shed a tear when I leave him at daycare!
ditto the siggy pic- so cute!
Glad to hear the first day back was good. That's always such a big mountain to get over (at least it was for me).
So true. That's what really helped me feel much better about things. The woman who takes care of her has raised 3 kids and has been working at the daycare for 10 years. She talked about some of her philosophies on infant care and development which I agreed with. So, I just feel so much more secure about the situation.
