I was told that I am going to be getting tested for this at my next appointment. How do they test you for this? I'm also going to be getting a pelvic exam...is it part of that?
quick swab in the vag, swab in the bum. didn't even need my feet in the stirrups for it. no biggie.
my dr did an internal last week too, but that was just b/c i had been having some cramps and stuff so she wanted to see what was goin on. otherwise she doesn't do internals til 39 weeks normally.
Just to be clear - the 'swab in the bum' is just on the outside - there is no penetration (at least there wasn't in my case). I wouldn't have even known she swabbed there if I didn't know she was going to do it from reading about it on here.
Re: Strep B test question
Yep, they use a huge q-tip to swab the outside of your vagina and anus.
One thing to know is that they do it again around 40 weeks because even if you're negative after the 36 week point, it can change.
