If your DH had swine flu,

would you bring your two sons to a children's b-day party?

I was at a party yesterday and started talking to a woman while our LO's were jumping in the bouncy house.  She proceeds to tell me her DH was sick at home with a diagnosed case of Swine flu.  At first, I thought oh that stinks I hope he feels better.  But the more I thought about it, I was a bit annoyed that she was even there. WDYT?

  • I don't know.  Are they supposed to sit in the house and wait to get sick?

  • She had to be crazy to think she should be bringing her kids to a birthday party!
  • if they had no symptoms at all, why not?  If her DH had swine flu, chances are the pedi or doctor prescribed tamiflu for the whole family (isn't that what they are doing) so the kids and mom may not get it at all and might be being treated for it....

I don't see the big deal....

  • I just found out today that one of DD's classmates just had the swine flu. He was out of school last week. His mom (who actually told me this) is still getting over it as is her DH. We just got over something, not sure if it was the same thing. We just stayed home all week and I kept making sure the kids were drinking and their fevers didn't get too high.

I would think if one person in the family is sick with it, the rest are carrying the virus. People amaze me.

  • Heck no and I wouldn't send them to school for a few days.

no, not at all what I was thinking!  But should they be around 12 children under the age of 5?  That was what irked me a bit and had me wondering.

  • No, I wouldn't have gone.

But that being said, don't worry too much.  I was just talking to some one who said they were sharing fondue with a colleague at a meeting and at the end of the meal they all started talking about the swine flu.  The guy she was sharing a pot with had 3 kids at home sick with it.  Yikes!  She didn't get it it though.

  • i don't think I am worried about it, just caught me by surprise that she was there with them.  We hand wash a lot here.  I am also a lysol mom.  LOL
  • No, I would not. Anytime I know any of us are sick, we stay home until we know that incubation periods have passed, plus I make sure I call anyone we were around during an incubation period so they can make sure they are looking for symptoms.

  • Ummm, no.

We stayed away from the general public when we had regular ol' influenza last year because I would feel terrible if I passed that along.  Tamiflu didn't do much for us anyway, we were already super sick by that time.

  • Nope, I surely would not.  And we'd all be taking our prophylaxis Tamiflu!
