help ~ My baby won't take a pacifier

I am breastfeeding my 5 week old baby.  Once she starts crying she won't stop until I give her my boob.  She is not hungry, but cannot soothe herself in any other way. My pediatrician recommends a pacifier but she refuses to take it and even gets more frustrated if we hold it in her mouth.  How can I get her to use a pacifier to help calm her need of suckling.  We have tried avent, soothies & NUK.

My DD is now 9 months old and has never wanted a pacifier either and we survived just fine.   It's okay, your baby will be alright.

A was never interested in the paci so we didn't force it. Honestly it's better in the long run...when eventually you'll have to fight to get rid of it.

try to read Harvey Karp's "The Happiest Baby on the Block" - he talks about how to make a baby take a pacifier (you basically have to pretend you're going to take it away).
