Activity mats and stationary activity centers

Can you recommend your activity mat and stationary activity center (or stationary jumper)?

Do any of you have suggestions where I can get a good price?

Also, at what age does your LO start using these items?

Thanks!

  • I got two different used FP Rainforest mats from Once Upon a Child. Do you have one of those near you? Their stuff is typically in very good condition. I got her a small one that I put in her PNP bassinet starting when she was maybe 6 weeks old? Got her a bigger one for the floor a few months later. You can usually find dozens of exersaucers at OUAC. Jumperoos are harder to find but they don't use those until later. I first put N in an exersaucer between three and four months.

  • We have the Baby Einstein activity mat (we received it as a shower gift) and dd started using it at 4 weeks old.  She loves the star that lights up and plays music.  I would put her on it as I got ready in the morning and we'd do tummy time on it.  It wasn't until she was older that she could acutally reach for the toys. I still put her on the mat and she'll play on it for a few minutes but now that she can roll she doesn't stay in one place for very long.

We have a jumperoo (dd is in it right now, it was also a shower gift).  She started using that once she had good head control.  We had to put books under it for her to touch the ground at first.  Now she can jump and reach for the toys without any help.

I'd look for those items at garage sales or baby consignment shops in the area.  A lot of times they can put you on a waiting list and when the item you're looking for comes in they'll call you.

He loves it! Started paying attention around 2 months maybe, and now he gets the biggest smile when we put him down there. He loves looking up at the hanging toys and recently started batting at them and occasionally catching them in his hand. It also comes with an electronic light/music piece that can also be used as a crib toy. We got ours with our registry completion coupon, as far as getting it cheaper all I could think would be to look on ebay or amazon maybe, or get a 20% of Bed Bath and Beyond coupon and use that at Buy Buy Baby?
