Flu vaccine . . .

Many questioned why my boys are not getting the H1N1 vaccine. I few weeks ago when we were at the pedi.'s office he said that at this time the recommendations for who should and should not get the vaccine were not out yet. He did not think either of the boys would fit into the guidelines due to a shortage? Now, I'm hearing from you all that they may be eligible? I guess this is something I'll look into, but I'm not sure whether I'll jump on the vaccine due to it being rushed? One more thing to think about.

Re: Flu vaccine . . .

  • I thought they were reccomending pregnant women, children 6 mos and up, people with compromised immune systems and healthcare workers. My son gets asthma like symptoms when sick, so I am very nervous about the flu. Not sure about the vaccine yet.

  • Like the other pp said...preg women, children 6 mo and up, people with compromised immune systems and healthcare workers.  When they are out my kids will get it.  Now they are saying mid-October.

  • Ds gets it bc he has asthma and is in daycare......if he was to get the flu it would be very bad! ironically, he is allergic to eggs, but we didnt know until 12 months and he had gotten the vaccine the month before and had no reaction, so last yr the pulmonologist wanted him to get and we just had to watch him bc she said the flu would be VERY bad if he got it due to his history. his egg allery has lessened thank god!

dh and I are both teachers and our dr said we can get it in oct bc a] our profession and b] if we were to get ds sick it could be bad.

    btw, hi deb!
