any one have any suggestions for which fold is best?

Re: best flat fold for a newborn?

  • I like the kite fold best. I didn't start using flats until my baby was about a year, though.  I've been thinking about how I'm goign to fold them for a newborn when the time comes, and I think that with my Imse Vimse flats, I'm going to fold them into fourths (half, then half again), then sort of fold them like a prefold (called the jo fold for flats, I think).  But the IV are a few inches bigger.  I haven't played around with the LL yet to know what I'll do with them, but they will be trimmer than the IV, so I'll want to use them more, I think.  I'm thinking, though, that maybe folding them almost in half and almost in half again and then doing the fold of your choice (I'll probably use the kite fold because I like it and get the best fit with it, and the LL are trimmer so it'll work better when folded into fourths than the IV would).

But... anyway... I would google this question if I were you :)

  • I used the LL in a kite fold from about 3 months (that's when I got them).  I think they would be pretty bulky on a newborn, but it could be done.  I also have some old fashioned pinked from Integrity Diaper Co that I'll be using during the newborn stage next time around.  They're substantially trimmer (see the link in my siggy).
