LO is in the NICU and is tube fed until she's old enough to nurse.. so I have to pump. I have a love/hate relationship with my pump. I love the actual pump, but I'm over having to spend so much time attached to it. LO has been growing like a weed since she started on the breast milk though, so I can't really complain too much. (She was on IV nutrition before, never formula)
My LO was in the NICU too and on IV fluid with an NG tube so I had to pump. Now that she is home we are working on breast feeding but pump what she doesnt nurse.
I EP because i have bad supply and was bf'ing, supplementing, then pumping which in total took forever - plus I was so frustrated not knowing how much DS was getting - so I decided to just pump. Supply still stinks (I get about 2/3 what DS needs) - but at least I know and feel better about it...
DD was in the nicu, so I had to pump in the beginning. Then, she lost too much weight, so we had to fortify my breastmilk with 22 calorie formula (I nursed her 3x/day, though). Once she had gained enough weight back, we stopped the fortifier and tried ebfing. My supply didn't adjust and I ended up with clogged duct after clogged duct. I had to pump after every feeding to prevent getting more clogged ducts. I would still nurse her 3x/day, but once she started daycare, she started refusing the boob. From time to time, I still try to put her on the boob, but she's not having it. I'm hellbent on giving her breastmilk until she's one year, adjusted, and I have to pump to do that.

I EP for the first 3 months because my son was unable/unwilling to latch. So, I had no other choice. We've since worked through our issues and now he nurses like a champ but I still pump 3-4 times a day to keep my supply up.
Re: Why did you decide to EP vs. BF?
