i was on lexapro. i didn't notice any side effects and it helped a ton. i think it kicked in pretty quickly!
the only thing to remember is that coming off is no fun. basically the meds create a dependency, so even if you hadn't needed them in the first place, you body will need them after you start taking them. just something to keep in mind if you're planning on having more kids and would be more comfortable quiting for that (i think they're category b?).
the benefits definitely outweigh the bad parts, IMO. i just wanted to bring up the coming off part because no one ever told me.
I have been on lexapro as well and it was really helpful. It is difficult to come off but I just weaned myself off slowly. My doctor told me to do this if I felt any effects. I just took less and less each day and it went well. I didn't have any other side effects while on the drug. Keep in mind different drugs work for different people so if the drug you are perscibed doesn't work ask your doctor if there is another one you can try. It took me a couple of different drugs to finally come up with the best one for me.

I was on prozac for about five months when DS's GI issues were really bad. Within about two weeks of going on it I felt like a whole new person. I came off of it by weaning off in January and didn't notice any side effects coming off of it. The only side effects that I noticed when I was on it was a dull headache for the first few days as my body adjusted.
I'm on Zoloft for ppd/anxiety. I started out on 50mg and was bumped up to 100mg. After I started the 100mg, I felt much better after about a week. After 2 weeks, I finally felt normal again. I haven't had any side effects from it.

I am taking 50 mg. Zoloft for PPD. I felt pretty rough the first 2-3 weeks with a very odd oral aversion (to all food and drinks), dull headache, and a weak stomach. I felt the full positive effects between 4-6 weeks on the meds and it has made a world of difference for me. Zoloft is safe while I am nursing, too, so I am staying on it until I am TTC, again, at least.
