We are looking at Chesterbrook Academy in Centreville/Clifton since we will be moving out there soon and I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with that daycare or Chesterbrook academy in general. TIA.
Hi NVAB -- I live in Cville and I looked at CA before DS was born. I decided against it (I actually can't remember why, but I think the director was rude to me and DH) and our DS goes to another daycare in the area.
A few months later, our pedi actually told us bad things about CA (the Cville location) -- apparently she gets a lot of sick kids from there. I guess they allow very sick children to still attend, whereas other area centers have higher standards.
I have friends who go to the CA in Gainesville and LOVE it. We are actually going to be sending out LO to the one in Kingstowne. I have heard negative things on several occasions that the one in Centreville, which surprises me given the feedback we've seen at other CA.
Be sure you check the Virginia social services website before you make any final decision. They will have a listing of any violations that the specific center has. You're not going to find one without a violation, just be sure you can live with the violations that are listed. In my opinion there are some violations that "don't count" then there are others that are non-starters for me.
You can search any child care in VA via the social services website. This will tell you how they do when they get inspected and any violations they may have. They also list the person who does the inspection and a contact number for them if you wish to call them. Also look at the number of years the center has a license for...I think 2-3 years is the longest you can get one...if they have one that is provisional or only 6 months then you know they have had trouble and for some reason aren't getting renewed for longer license terms! Here is the link...
