For those who go to Greenbriar OB-GYN...

Who is your OB within the practice and why do you like that doctor?  I have only gone once and saw the NP, so I am looking for a recommendation.

Re: For those who go to Greenbriar OB-GYN...

  • WHen I used to go for annual appts only I would see Dr. Pickford, then when I had my m/c in January Dr. Pickford also did that surgery for me.  Since being pg, I have been cycling though them, I have seen Connie, the NP, Dr. Pickford and Dr. Gopal.  My first appt with the male dr is coming up.  I lhave liked everyone who I have seen there, they all seem to take time to answer your questions and have good bedside manner.  THough I like the NP, I actually like dr pickford even better.  She was so fantastic through the m/c.  obviously i wont get to choose who delivers me but I hope its her:-)  It may be because I have more of a relationship with her than the others.

  • Pickford is my primary GYN but with OB you circulate through all the docs as pp indicated.

Wertheim was ok but reminded me a bit like the science teacher from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  Gopal is quite inquisitive, which is good for me.  I asked her about flu vaccine and she was helpful and in favor, but didn't push.  She also laughed about my 7 pound weight gain last month and liked my vacation excuse.  Whereas Connie, the RN, told me I'd have to get all the flu shots no questions asked.  This put me off a bit, but not enough to leave the practice.  I haven't seen Pickford since I've been pg, but will see her next month.  I think I tend to like women docs better - its the been there aspect of it.  I'm sure Wertheim is great but he isn't capable and hasn't popped a kid out so I'm a bit biased :-)

I agree - and I have never had a male OB before.  What is funny though is that the doctor that ended up delivering my son was the one male OB in the practice!

    Thanks for the info, ladies.

  • I usually see Connie (the NP) for my annual, but you see all the docs when you are PG.  Wertheim is a bit cold, but Gopal and Pickford are great.  Pickford is my favorite.  I was dreading that Wertheim would be on call and deliver me.  I ended up being induced and at the start of my induction I asked the nurse who was on call.  She told me Wertheim and I made a face and she said they see that a lot, but if she ever needed a c-section, he's the guy she would want.  I ended up with a c-section (after 30 hours) and he did a fantastic job.  My mom is an acupuncturist and treats many patients with c-section scars and she said mine looks really great.  My husband said Wertheim was really meticulous during the surgery and even made the surgical aid take out the stiches and resew.  Not that you will have a c-section, just pointing out that while he is a bit clinical, he does good work =)

oh thanks!  I had a vaginal birth with DS, and I would think that I would have another one with our next baby.  But this is still good information.  I don't mind a cold bedside manner as long as the MD is thorough and answers all of my questions.
