So how bad of a cook is your husband? Mine? Horrible. When I met him he could make cereal, toast, frozen pizza, PBJ, and order take out. His idea of a grilled chese was taking bread, toasting in the toaster and then melting Kraft singles on the toast in the microwave.
His fridge was disgusting. Usually consisted of milk, pop, beer, some random condiments and things in tupperware that should've been tossed, oh, about 6 months earlier.
He now can do a little more - like grill, but really, that's about it...oh he can make a grilled cheese on the stove, but it's hit or miss if it's burnt.
Re: s/o husband's that cannot cook...
lol! Mine can actually follow directions pretty well, so he does have that going for him.
That's why I like to have an actual recipe for him. Otherwise, he will be asking me every 5 minutes what to do and how to do it.
Dh can cook certain recipes but everything else is hurl worthy!
He has a heavy hand with the olive oil.
LOL at teaching him to grill. When I bought MH a new grill a couple of years ago, I got him the Grilling for Dummies book.
He's really good with the grill and can follow directions on a boxed meal reasonably well. I don't think its that he can't do it, or couldn't learn, its more that I really love to cook and (according to others) I'm pretty good at it, so he just doesn't ever have to.
My dad is a fantastic cook though. I learned to cook mostly from him.

He can't cook. Period. The sad part is, he thinks he can grill. I don't have the heart to tell him he's not good at that, either.
He pretty much survived on turkey sandwiches before I met him.
