Anyone get implantation bleeding AFTER a BFP?

I never had implantation bleeding w/DD but what I'm experiencing now *might* be that (light bleeding, red, isn't soaking a pad but a liner is helpful)........except I already got a positive test. I would think getting a + on an hpt would mean the egg had implanted already and had time to build up hormones so a test could detect a pg. So getting it now wouldn't make sense right?

I already talked to my MW's office and the MW I spoke to did not seem confident that my bleeding is a good sign. She suggested I take another pg test in 4 or 5 days and at the end of our convo she closed with "I'm sorry for your loss" (!!!) to which I replied "WHAT?! Why are you saying that?". She back peddled with "I'm sorry for the loss you're experiencing."

W.T.F.?? I've already cried on and off and am scared but I'm tryinig to think positively because that's all I really can do at this point. Anyone have more-than-just-spotting and been okay?

  • OMFG lynn I am so sorry the nurse said that.  I have been there.

At 9 weeks with P I had some spotting, called the OB.  The MW said "it sounds like you're having a miscarriage--but the great news is you won't even need a D&C".  I could have throat punched her for diagnosing me over the phone.  I was hysterical, made DH leave work, went and got an u/s right away.  And.....all was perfect.

Honestly, you should not have to wait 4-5 days.  That would be torture.  Can't they do a blood draw to see if your numbers double over the next couple of days instead?

  • I was in the same boat.  No implantation bleeding with DS but experienced it rather late with my current pregnancy.  It freaked me out but it was brown which means it was dried blood or shall I say not fresh.  Doctor told me that sometimes it takes awhile for it to work its way out or it could have been a small amount of debris from my last pregnancy.  Dont panic yet!

  • I did with my first.  I bleed a little about 1-2 days after my BFP.  When I saw the doctor and she checked me, she said it's delayed implantation bleeding, that for some women the flow is slow and it takes a few days to show itself.  Good luck.
  • Some people have bled in 1st tri and been fine, some haven't. I really hope everything is okay.

You can take a test now- a digital...it may help you either know the truth or ease your mind. I'd guess, if you were actually m/cing, your hcg would be below 50, which is what a digital would detect. This is MY science, not real science, but it's how I found out about both my m/c's before I started bleeding.

  • No, implantation bleeding pretty much always precedes a BFP.

    Sending good thoughts your way...

    I agree with this statement.
However, some people spot throughout their pregnancy, and nothing is wrong. I will hope this is your case as well, and all is okay.

    :::fingers crossed::::

  • I DID have implantation bleeding after BFP. About a week or two after my BFP, happened 2 times I had a very light pink spotting. The doctor said if it doesn't require a pad and isn't bright red then it is usually nothing to worry about. Mine was just pink and I did not need a pad.

  • You are still really early.  Earlier than most people probably even test.  I am crossing my fingers and toes that it is just implantation bleeding and everything is fine.

  • I had bleeding for a few days leading up to my BFP, and I had spotting for about a week to a week and a half after my BFP.  I went in for betas, and everything was doubling fine, so it was just some unexplained bleeding.

I would ask for betas- at least you would know if they were doubling.  Good thoughts headed your way!

  • My gawd I do not know what to think. Or do.

I took another digital around 10a (sadly just to get a chance to take a picture of the word 'pregnant' before it dissappeared on me again) and it was positive. I noticed the bleeding at 1p. I would think even while in the very process of losing a baby that there would still be hcg in your system, no? So that digital hpt result probably doesn't help in eihter direction.

I like Music's idea very much and will consider it, however........

I do not think this is going in a good direction. I just noticed a clot. My goodness this is heart wrenching. And might I add that having a smiley and happy 15mo old wanting me to chase her around and tickle her is just so intense.......on one hand I break down because I'm just so grateful to have that little person in my life and on the other I just want to curl into a ball and get it all out for awhile w/no interruption.

Plus there IS always hope and I hate to succumb to unfounded fear.......

  • Wow, this is pretty intense. I would either try to have betas taken or try to relax over the next few days and see what happens. Praying for you!

    I am so sorry, T&L.

Hang in there. I am praying for you!

  • I am not  a patient person--I would ask for betas.

I am thinking of you and I hope that you have good news with your next update.  Many, many hugs to you.
