Melrose Place

I'm sort of ashamed to admit it, but I watched about 20 minutes of Melrose Place last night (and DVRed the rest). I lived in Germany when the original series was on and my sister used to send me tapes of the show and every American in town couldn't wait to watch them. (Let me tell you, when you live in another country it's not American democracy and freedom and all that stuff you miss, it's trashy TV and fast food.)

Anyway, how can Sydney still be living in that apartment?  Didn't she DIE in the original series? And when did the apartment complex get a "Penthouse?"
