Is $1800 a good estimate for a toilet?

We had a plumber come to give us an estimate about putting a toilet in the basement and they gave us a quote for $1800. That is just the toilet and what not that goes with it and we will have to enclose it ourselves.

I'm kind of thinking that it's reasonable and haven't heard back from DH about it. We have 2 more coming in today for more estimates

You can get a toilet for around $300 -$400 (a nice one).  Do you already have the plumbing, or are they doing that?  I pay about $80-100 an hour for a 2 man plumbing crew I use regularly.  There normal service call is $185 just to show up, but since I use them so much, I normally get $150.

You can get a GOOD toilet for $300bucks.  Do they have to put in the water & drain ?  If not, no that's awful.

yes, they have to add the drain and vents and stuff.

Ditto--I hope this number is to put in all the plumbing & drainage (tearing up the concrete, putting down the pipes, etc) & not just to install a toilet in a place where there is exsisting plumbing hook-ups.

I think about $4,000 is average for a 1/2 bath installation for basements so I'd say $1,800 just for the toilet would be fair since I believe that's one of the most difficult parts of it. The enclosure part and the fixtures would be relatively inexpensive in comparison.
