f/u new synagis guidelines

Our next appt isn't for 2 weeks, so I will ask then, but I can't really find complete info on the new guidelines for who gets it. I did see something about not giving 35w babies as many shots, but that's about it.

Does anyone have the complete info?
TIA!

  • I know we don't qualify because we don't have other school-aged children in our home.

For her age, it was GA and 1) Go to daycare AND 2)Have other school-aged children at home.

  • Our pedi is going to try and see what happens.
  • Ok, according to this, she should qualify??  I sent it to DH to let him fight it out with the pulminologist's office.

No, it looks like she'd need to be less than 3 months at the start of the season to qualify.

  • Even though the new guidelines are much more narrow about who should get coverage - it still might be worth having your doctor submit a request.   They are just guidelines not rules so some insurance companies may grant coverage on particular cases.

If your LO gets sick frequently, has a hard time getting over colds, etc. than it might be worth a shot.

Heck, Olivia's pulminologist was contemplating fighting for Olivia to get shots for a THIRD year.   We decided against trying since Olivia has done well so far and getting montly shots in both legs at age three is kind of mean (unless necessary).
