More?

Did/does anyone tend to be having more BHs as their PG progresses? May be a no-brainer Q but...

I have noticed more BHs as I become more and more PG. None have been "painful", but I have noted their presence more as the weeks move up. Just wanted to hear your experiences if you can share....

THX!!

Re: More?

  • yes, I had more and more with each passing week and mostly at night.  I would keep track of them and when I reached more than my drs recommendation then I would call them.  I usually ended up at L & D if they would not calm down with fluids and rest.

L & D would give me Turb (I forget what the full name of this medicine is) and they would stop.  But after several trips I was put on a prescription of the med Procardia and that helped reduce them.  I started that med at 32 weeks and stayed on until 35 weeks.

  • Yes.  I had them a lot starting at about 24 weeks, and by 31 weeks I was in preterm labor.  I was on procardia for about 3 weeks, but taken off because it caused heart problems for me.

It's normal to have increased BH in a multiples pregnancy, and they don't always mean you'll have preterm labor issues.  Just keep track of them if it seems like you're having a lot, relax as much as you can, and stay hydrated.  Call your doctor if you have any concerns, even if you think it's probably not a big deal.  I promise they won't think you're overreacting (and if they do your doctor sucks because preterm labor is a very real concern with twins) and it's better to find out it's nothing than to not go in until it's too late.

  • I had a lot more towards the end and no PTL issues at all.  I carried to 38w6d.
