Breastfeeding

Differences between breasts

Since the beginning my left breast has produced more. My left breast has always been a little bigger even before pregnancy so I wasn't surprised. A couple of weeks ago my right nipple was sore so I stopped nursing on it just pumping. We resumed nursing a few days ago. Now for some reason my left breast is not producing as much as my right. I mostly pump, and every time I pump now I get about twice as much out of my right! Is that weird? Anyone experience something similar?

Re: Differences between breasts

  • I have the same thing happening to me.  My right side is producing 3-4 oz each pumping/ feeding and my left only produces 1-2 oz.  I asked my Dr. at my last visit and she said that sometimes this happens, and that I should remember his is a supply and demand system.  When DS is looking for comfort sucking I to put him on the left side, so far it is helping a little bit.  GL!
