Target vs Old Navy Maternity

I have a Liz Lange basic maternity t-shirt from Target that's a size small. It fits, but it will probably only fit for the next 2-3 months. It hasn't been dried, and probably couldn't be dried, because if it shrinks too much, it wouldn't fit.

Anyway, I'm going to buy just some basic maternity t's from Old Navy, but I have NO idea about their sizing. Typically, I wear a medium to large in the Old Navy tall section...I always had to buy larges in the regular section to make sure they were long enough. I have no idea how Old Navy maternity runs...can anybody help?

I've heard this too. Also, maternity shirts seem to run long in general...but I wonder how much longer they'll be long enough!  I usually have to shop exclusively in the talls section, and no place really makes "tall maternity" that isn't extremely expensive!

  • They seem to run pretty true to size. I just got three shirts yesterday that I ordered online. I got one of the burn-out shirts. It's really cute.
  • I am 5'8 and very long waisted.  I typically do the same thing as you with the med/large to make sure it's long enough.

I have bought everything on oldnavy.com in medium, and everything thus far has fit with the exception of 1 shirt that ran large (but will likely fit me later in pregnancy).  GL!

  • The tanktops at ON are junk. They are terrible - don't waste your money. I bought three and feel like I just threw away the money. However, the tanktops from Target are awesome - so comfortable and stretchy!
  • The stuff I bought from ON is running on the big side.

  • I think that ON runs big.  I ordered some cutsie tops that were on sale in medium and they are quite big on me (not so much long but wide).  There stuff is really cute and more important it's comfortable once you get the sizing right.  GL

  • I'm only 13w along, so I'm obviously not as big as I will be at some point. That said, I thought the ON stuff felt like it ran large. I have been in medium or large tops, and I ordered a large dress. It was like a tent. I suppose I'll grow into it at some point, but it's really big.

I also bought a LL maternity shirt from Target in large that fits well now and is pretty long.

Do you have an ON in your area? It's best to try stuff on because it can be pretty hit and miss. Good luck!

  • I actually am addicted to Motherhood Maternity! They have inexpensive clothes, they fit true to size and their stuff is really comfy. (Most of their jeans are around $30.00) and shirts go from $12.00 to $36.00) If you don't have one near you, go to their website: www.motherhood.com and go to store locator to find one, if not one near you they have really inexpensive shipping and like I said, it runs true to size. Warning- I am 5'4" and the regular length jeans are a bit too long so I had to take to a tailor for altering, but that's only around $7 for each pair depending on your area. Oh yeah, they have cute clothes too that won't break the bank!

I just ordered long sleeve t's from old navy. I normally wear a med, but these med's were really big. i.e. in the length of the arms and body. I don't think I would end up growing in arm length :-)

In my experience all maternity clothes are junk.  They last for weeks if you're lucky.  Luckily they tend to be cheap

If you're comparing Target and Old Navy maternity, ON runs larger than Target
