2 questions about feeding

1. does anyone else's baby sound like Monica Seles at Wimbledon while they drink a bottle? Warner grunts like crazy....he started doing this a few weeks ago and his grunts just keep getting louder. It's weird.

2. I think I effed up. Sad Like I posted earlier this week, we tried solids again this week with oatmeal cereal and he loved it. When I was at BBB I saw that they had oatmeal cereal with bananas and I thought "oh, that might be yummy for Warner" so we gave him that yesterday and today. (OH MY GOD the poop. the smelliest most god awful poop ever.) and then I remembered that I think I'm supposed to just him straight bananas first before feeding him combined food? I mean, other than the increase in horrible, smelly poop, he's fine. Did I screw up?

Re: 2 questions about feeding

  • Hmmm...I don't think so.  As long as you aren't mixing two brand new foods and giving them at once, I think you're fine.  I give Audrey oatmeal every morning, and always mix it with some fruit.  I'm pretty sure when I introduced pears to her I mixed them with her oatmeal right away.  I think you're fine.  :)

  • 1.  Yep, DD did that.  She made some awfully cute gulpy noises back in her nursing/bottle days.

    2. Ditto Mosersgirl.  :-)

  • My son is the loudest grunter - and not just eating.  He even grunts when he gets excited, impatient, or even bored in his stroller or car seat, lol.

As for #2, you're fine. Just be sure to do a 3-5 days trial of bananas just like you would for any other food.  Worst case, it may be that single foods are better at that early of an  age because it's easier for their digestive system to digest, but I don't know if that's actually true or not.

  • My son can be loud.  I agree with pp about introducing foods.  We never had any reactions and had no history of food allergies so I didn't always wait four days.

  • The poop only gets better from here. Believe me!
  • Like PP said, give it a few days and make sure there is no reaction to bananas and you'll be fine.  FWIW we have no food allergies in our family so I've only been waiting 2 days between foods.
