silk crib sheets

Has anyone else found these? I found basically two options .. $25 ones that come only in ivory and $250 that come in multiple colors. Not spending 250 bucks on them.

note: the reason I am asking about silk crib sheets - because it sounds totally obscene for a baby to have silk sheets - as you can see from my post DS is AA and has a beautiful head of curls (that may or may not stay) and he scoots all over his crib through out the night - all that rubbing is causing his hair in the back to fall out and what is left is getting really dry and broken. the silk will help with this issue albeit allow him to slide more easily lol

Re: silk crib sheets

  • I don't know about silk sheets but I feel like rubbing the hair off the back of their heads is a pretty common thing for babies around the age of your DS whether they are African American or not.  My son and my niece both rubbed little bald spots on the back of their heads around that age.

  • Would satin work, or does it have to be real silk?  I just googled satin crib sheet and got some matches in different colors, and at reasonable prices.

    DS 12/09, Twins EDD 11/11
  • I have no input here, but just wanted to say your son is absolutely adorable in your siggy pic.  Precious!
  • I don't think it will make a difference.  But I wouldn't pay that much for sheets.  Maybe buy one of the $25.00 ones and see or you could go to your fabric store and get some silk and make your own sheets.

Yes, losing hair is common AA or not but the drying and breakage caused by the cotton depleting the oil from his hair and scalp are the primary reason for asking about silk. But uh ... thanks anyway :-)

Thanks! I didn't even think about satin, I think that would be a lot better for him than the cotton. I'l google thanks.

  • Um, infants heads get dry and hair falls out all the time. It is supposed to.

DD was born with a full head of dark hair, slept on her stomach from the get go and still got the "old man" crown of bald spot from ear to ear across the back of her head. It is normal.
