Hi, I am having my first IUI today. Is it OK to take advil before the IUI? I did with the HSG and it rocked! Or, do I even need to? I was on clomid, but haven't taken any RXs for about a week. Thx!!
Amber want to be IUI buddies? I'm having mine today. I don't know about advil, I would think maybe yes cause we're getting that catelher(spelling) again.
I have always heard not to take advil around O time. I heard it can interfere with ovulation and implantation. You shouldn't need it anyway. It is a little uncomfortable, but it doesn't hurt.
Good luck!

No, ibufrofin is not good and should be avoided at all costs. Tylenol is the drug of choice for pain relief.
An IUI is not painful at all. So if you are taking it for that, you do not need anything. Good luck
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

oh crap i took advil for a headache wednesday and had my IUI yesterday do you think I did any damage? Anyways- the IUI was a little painful as I had some cramping. But nothing compared to the HSG at all.

IUIs are generally not painful ( think pap smear), so there is no need to pain meds.
Also, I do believe advil is one to stay away rom.
No need for any pain meds before IUI. They are very easy and NOTHING like an HSG.
Good luck today!!
Ditto. My RE had me stop NSAIDs completely at all points in my cycle.
