Can I freeze formula?

****this is probably a dumb question so I apologize in advance****

Stupid me bought 2 big cans of formula and there is no way I will go through an open can in the one month the directions say to use it within.
My LO only gets 2-4 oz per day because I nurse him as much as I can produce. So, can I freeze or maybe even refrigerate 1/2 the powder to keep it fresh longer - or is that a no no?

  • I found this online, so no, but it says its good for 2-3 mos

Properly storing your formula cans, both unopened and opened, is important for ensuring your baby's safety.Unopened cans should be stored in an area away from extreme heat or cold. Do not freeze formula in a can or prepared formula in the bottle.Opened cans of ready-to-feed and concentrated liquid formula should be tightly covered and stored in the refrigerator. Use within 48 hours.Opened powder cans should be covered with the plastic lid and stored in a cool, dry place. Do not leave the lid off the can. Do not store the can of powder in the refrigerator. Use the powder within 2-3 months.
