  • It has been a month for me and no problems at all.
  • ive heard that you can bleed really heavy for up to three months. did that happen to anyone? did your suppy go down at all after having it? also having it put in did it hurt?
  • I get mine in on tuesday. My on said it might be uncomforable for a day or two but not painful. I had a c-section so I figure if it is less than that I don't care. I haven't heard of anyone having supply issues.

  • Got mine in May...i'm still spotting quite a bit, I've had a few days here and there when there was nothing and a short time for a week or two here and there that there was no spotting.

I have no sex drive either, it killed it completely.  But I could chalk that up to being pissed at my dh quite a bit lately.

Milk supply, it's dwindling, however last month I started back to school (teacher off for the summer) and i'm not pumping enough to keep up with his demand so my dad (our sitter) supplements with formula during the day.

  • Insertion wasn't really painful for me. It felt like a pap smear. Other than that - I've had minimal cramping and some spotting here and there. It's not too bad. My milk supply hasn't decreased.
  • I had Mirena inserted at 8 wks post-delivery.  Insertion was just a little uncomfortable - nothing awful.  I spotted for about a week afterwards, and have had nothing since - no AF or spotting.  During the week of spotting, my supply seemed to dwindle a little, but then returned to normal and has been fine since.
  • I thought insertion was rather painful and I spotted for a good 5 weeks afterward.  My supply has been fine.  And FYI, to the PP, I asked my OB about Mirena's effect on my sex drive and he said there'd be none. (no effect that is, not no sex drive Wink)
  • I've had mine in for 16 months now, and I love it. It was pretty painful to have inserted, but that only lasted a minute. I spotted on and off for about a month, and haven't had a period or any spotting since. I'm still breastfeeding, so obviously it hasn't affected my supply. I have basically no sex drive and am very dry "down there" (sorry for TMI), but that may be because of breastfeeding, not Mirena. All in all, I love the freedom of not having to think about birth control.
  • I used the Mirena after DS was born and had it in till he was 15 months old and never had any milk supply issues.  I nursed him till he was 18 months old, but had it removed to TTC again.  I got pregnant on the mini pill with DS, so I refuse to use that again.  The mini pill also caused a huge milk supply drop for me.

I had a little spotting and bad cramping for 3 weeks, then suddenly it stopped.  Never affected my supply at all, and other than a little pressure, I didn't have pain when it was put in or removed.
