Sleep question-6 mo old screaming

The past two nights DS has woken up several times absolutely screaming.  These are unlike any cries I have heard from him before.  One of us goes in to check on him and nothing is visibly wrong, but he is screaming his little head off and kicking his legs around like crazy.  We try to soothe him back to sleep but both nights we've just ended up leaving the room and letting himself cry himself to sleep because the soothing wasn't doing anything to stop the crying.

This has been relatively early (like 1:00 am or so), so I don't think he's hungry.  He's usually able to get to 4:00, 5:00 or even later without having to eat.  But the past two nights he's been up again at 3:00 and I have nursed him then.

Could he be experiencing teething pain?  Sleeping poorly because of something on the horizon development-wise?  It is like someone replaced my normally peacefully sleeping baby with a demon child!

Re: Sleep question-6 mo old screaming

  • Growth spurt or teething maybe?  Or maybe he is just calling Molly and they have it in for us Wink  Molly has been off and on SUPER fussy all week and I cannot figure out why.

  • Seems to me if he suddenly starts screaming out of nowhere it may be a sting or pang of pain - teething.  Fussy is one thing, screaming for seemingly no reason, I'd say poor little guy is either hitting his head on the side of the crib while sleeping or teething. Poor baby.  Sad
