Adoption

Only two more weeks...

The baby is due in 2 weeks (and 2 days.)  We've been trying to get so much done in the meantime.  I'm a "list" person - I must have 25 things (at least) that I want to try to do this weekend.  Good thing we have a 4 day weekend for the holiday!

Things are going well.  I'm hoping Z will email me today and let me know how her doctor appt went yesterday.  Haven't heard from her yet, but maybe she's doing something or busy.

I've been feeling really emotional for the last week or so -- crying at the drop of a hat.  I think we're both just overwhelmed and stressed and hoping everything will go well.  I woke up today and felt butterflies in my stomach right away - I was so anxious and excited.

Just wanted to share - thanks for listening.

  • How exciting... so close now!  I am sure I will be just as emotional when I get to your place.  It will really be weird and disorienting to be just handed a baby and then take them home.  Even though that is what we all really want, there must be a serious adjustment period to go from 2 to 3.  Good luck!  I hope eveything goes smoothly and you can get some of your list done.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

The baby will come home with us from the hospital in temporary placement.  The birthmom will have 2-8 weeks after the birth before she goes to court.  She will sign her TPR then.  The 2-8 weeks depends on the court system in the county she gives birth in.  So, during that time period she could decide to parent.

That's going to be a stressful wait, but I'm trying not to focus on that...

  • Oh, by the way, I just wrote a post on my blog of what we actually got done yesterday - it's crazy when you see it all in print!!

  • Ok, that was our situation.  I felt enormous relief after the hospital discharge.  A week later, we hit a hiccup, but then Q's birth mom started to do better.  It is stressful, but makes the TPR date even more joyous!
