Birth Stories

Did anyone here have baby at home?

With dd I labored at home and was at the hospital less than an 20 min before our LO was born. We are considering a home birth the second time around. Would love to hear all about a home birth if there is any out there.

Thanks

  • hi~  there are quite a few home birth stories here on the board.  just look thru the posts and you can read about other people's experiences.  i think if you are considering it, next time you get pg you can meet with a home birth midwife and have a consultation.

are you in alabama?  if so, that might be a problem.  the last i heard it is illegal to be a home birth midwife in that state.  www.mana.org    but check around in your community, i hope i'm wrong about that.  some people that live in an illegal state choose to go to a family or friend's house that is nearby but in another state and have their baby there.  GL!

  • I had an amazing home birth experience (my story is in my bio although it is very hard to read with the lack of spaces- not sure how to make it better).  You can always page me with any questions!

  • Yes, I had my first baby, Charlie, at home in April. We had an amazing experience and plan on all of children being born this way.  Watch "The Buiness of Being Born" by Ricki Lake...and I also rec reading Ida May's guide to childbirth.  These 2 resources (along with my sister who has her babies at home) helped me to make an informed decision about my labor and delivery.   I would also rec reading as many home birth stories that you can either here or mothering.com......
