  • Congratulations!  You might enjoy a Pregnancy 101 class.  Isis Maternity www.IsisMaternity.com holds one every few weeks for $5.

     Pregnancy 101

Whether you?re trying to conceive or the test is already positive, you probably have tons of questions and feel overwhelmed by the information available in books and on the internet. Maybe you?re not ready to tell your friends or you can?t get in to see your doctor for several weeks. This class will provide an overview of the anatomy and physiology of fetal development and cover the facts and myths regarding miscarriage and environmental toxins. We will help you choose an obstetrician/nurse midwife and prepare you for what to expect during your prenatal visits including prenatal testing and procedures. We will discuss prenatal health and nutritional needs including diet, weight management, heartburn, nausea, vomiting and constipation. We will also cover sexuality and bedrest during pregnancy. Checklists and information about additional resources available to expecting parents will also be provided. Taught by a Certified Nurse Midwife and an OB-GYN. Recommended during first trimester or pre-conception.

  • Congratulations! The bump, babycenter.com and WhatToExpect.com (from the maker of the book) are all really informative sites and will have the answer to any question you have. As long as you use common sense there really isn't too much to worry about. I've only got about a month left and I can't believe how fast the time has flown by!

  • Great advice from other ladies...one of the most important things is your diet - not just what you eat, but what you can't eat...your doctor will go over all that with you.  Also, take those vitamins!  They're gross, but hang in there.  You'll find so many new pregnancy symptoms that no one tells you about.  I never got sick, but I got eczema (gross) and carpal tunnel, and gingivitis (double gross).  Remember to write your questions down for your doctor as soon as you think of them, because your memory will start to go soon, too :)   I really liked this site, the What To Expect book and website, and also babyzone.com.  I think it's mostly common sense - follow your instincts, and have fun!  It's such an exciting time!
  • Hey,

I'm 23 years old (going to be 24 in about a week) and am also having my first baby, we are 13 weeks and 1 day. Although this is my first, we have been trying for about 2 years, and I have prepared myself for what to expect. Also, growing up my best friend got pregnant at 17, and is now 24 years old with 3 kids, but she manages just fine. I walked with her through the whole ordeal and though it was tough, she doesn't regret it for a minute. Please, feel free to write back to me with any questions or even just to chat.
