TTC after 35

Is this a reasonable plan?

Hi Ladies,

So my H and I had our appointment yesterday with our RE.  Since DH had a normal SA and I have been cleaned out with a lap/hyst and had an HSG, she really thought I would be KU by now.

For those of you who have moved forward with your REs, she wants to do the following next month, and I am wondering if this sounds reasonable as a first step?  It was a little daunting to me but then again I had no idea what to expect.

CD3 hormonal b/w, Clomid 50mg BID days 3-7, CD8 b/w (estradiol and FSH), Sonogram day11-13 for follie check, HCG trigger, IUI + intercourse the next day, and progesterone supplements 100mg BID starting 2 days post IUI.

Aggressive or great?  Thoughts?

  • I think that sounds good.  It is similar to what we did, except for B2B IUI's and no progesterone.

  • I think it sounds very reasonable. The IUI might be exactly what you need to get everything together in the same place at the same time!

    Good Luck!!!

  • Sounds good to me!!!!!!!!
  • Sounds very good to me. Don't be surprised if they do a u/s on cd 3 too to see how many follies you have too. I though I was just going in for blood work on cd 3 and ended up with a date with the dildo cam. Good luck!

  • I think that sounds reasonable.  I think it's just tough to swallow...like wow, an IUI is in my future.

I just noticed your siggy that reads all your BFPB's got knocked up.  If I was TTC this month (can't just had the chicken pox vaccine), I'd offer to be yours!  ;-)  Here's hoping you can find a good luck charm for yourself with the IUI.

  • I think it sounds like a reasonable plan, definitely not too aggressive. RE's usually start with Clomid and/or IUIs as a first step if they're not dealing with some serious infertility issues that they know those methods won't work for.

     Best of luck!

  • Thanks everyone.  I definitely feel better knowing nobody is gasping at the plan, lol.

And for those who want a little good luck, I'm happy to add a few BFPBs to my list!  Whatever works ;)
