How to get my 20 month old to use a blanket?

I have never put anything in her crib but if I ever try to put a blanket on top of us if we're on the couch or something she would push it off.  She hates anything on top of her.  But it's starting to get colder at night and we're going to be building a house and we won't be able to jack up the heat in just her room anymore so any suggestions on how to get her to take a blanket?  Should I just use a baby size blanket to start off with?  I'm thinking she's just going to throw it out of her crib for a while.  Has this happened to anyone else?  It's not really a big deal but just wondering if anyone had any good ideas.  Thanks!

  • My DD won't use a blanket either. I just put warm jammies on her.

  • I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you think she's cold, use a fleece sleeper or something.
  • It's all about the fleece footed sleepers in my house. DD is just now starting to stay under the blankets and she'll be 3 y/o in November, and DS is still too young. Plus, I live in an old house and it gets cold in the bedrooms, so the fleece footed sleepers are really the way to go. I wish that they made them in my size Big Smile

  • DS just (as in this week) started sleeping under the covers and he has been in a bed over 6 months now. He hated blankets in his crib too. Stock up on footed pj's ;)
