Switching formula at 10 months

Has anyone had luck changing formula at 10 months.  We have to switch DS to Alimentum due to an infection induced milk protein malabsorption problem.  I don't know how he is going to handle that.  If he refused it, the GI recommended slowly mixing 25% new/75% old, 50/50 and so on.  Has anyone had success (ok- had it go well) switching formula at this point?

    We switched from Enfamil Lacto-Free (discontinued) to Enfamil Prosoybee at 9 months. No problems, infact he starting sleeping much better at night. We just switched from one bottle to the next, we didn't wean him.

    We switched from Gentlease to regular formula at around 9 months so he could be on that for a few months before he starts milk.  We mixed half and half until the can of Gentlease was gone then just did normal.  Went fine.  Good luck.
