Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you make your own baby food, but don't freeze it...

...what do you do when you're out and about and have to take food with you?  do you find it's a lot of work to prepare the food fresh daily?  how do you go about this?  do you make it once a day and just refrigerate it until needed throughout the day?  sorry so many questions...trying to figure out what will work best for me. :-)

  • I have old baby food jars that are washed out and I make the food for the week and then put them in the jars and pull them out as I go. I have three per day, one for each meal.

  • I have a portable baby food mill that I kept in my diaper bag.
  • I make 90% of DS's food.  He's still taking only two meals a day, so it's not a lot of food.

I always keep a few jars of Earth's Best organics in the house, for situations like that.  I haven't found a good way of storing homemade food for outings.

  • I make a whole batch and keep in fridge in small containers. I grab one before we leave. I usually make 7-10 days worth at a time.
