This made me laught out loud... I hadn't made the ferret connection yet, but thank you for pointing this out, I'm pretty sure I would have made the connection when he was like 3 months old and it was too late to change the name. Yikes!
I really would like to stick with a Je, rather than a Ja, just because we live in Oklahoma and people would say J"air"et with a twang... I hate the way Oklahoman's say A's
But I would also love for my child to not constantly have his name misspelled... I know I'm already cursing him by naming him Jerrett instead of Jerad.
(I'm totally making a big deal out of nothing, at least my babies are healthy so far!)
I've known several people with this name, and they have ALL spelled it Jarrett and prononuced it "Jair-et" (rhymes with Garrett).
Jarrett is actually a variant of the name Garrett, and it is a common surname. I think that's why most people are choosing that spelling. It's just the one you see most often, so it looks like the "correct" spelling.

?
I've always seen it spelled this way...?
Dh's friend is Jarratt. He says 2 A's, 2 R's, 2 T's.
I say go w/ the same spelling as DH.
