Is your 2.5 year old consistent with their naps?

DS is all over the place lately - he'll have 2 or 3 days in a row of a 3+ hour nap (whch is really long for him) then a day where it takes him an hour to fall asleep for his nap, then a day where he takes no nap, then a usual 1.5 or so hour nap, etc etc. Bedtime and wake up are the same, there is no relationship based on what we do that day, etc. He is just all over the freaking place,

Don't get me wrong, I am perfectly happy that he still takes some type of nap most of the time, but I am tired of never knowing what he is going to do. Are all kids this inconsistent?

  • Yeap, most days she doesn't nap anymore...but other times she falls asleep in the car, on the couch, etc.  I don't make her nap anymore because then she stays up past 9pm--LOL!

  • He is over 2.5, but Yes. He has been consistent with his nap for a long time now. He goes down for his nap around 1:00 or 1:30 and sleeps betwween 2 1/2 and 3 hours every day (unless we are doing something special and it's my fault that he isn't napping). He definitely still needs his nap.
  • No, she's not consistent, but then she never has been.  I'm just grateful for the days she does nap, because she doesn't go to bed any earlier when she doesn't!
  • For the most part she is, there are some days that she will not nap and there are others that she will take one.  Her naps at school are 1 to 1.5 hours and at home they can go to up to 3 hours.  When she does not nap she does go to bed earlier because she is melting but still get up to the same time
  • DD is pretty similar.  Most days she sleeps from 12:30-2:30/3, but there are some days she sleeps until closer to 4 and days where it takes her awhile to fall asleep.
  • at 2.5 years she no longer took a nap.
