STD for Pregnancy

My husband and I are talking about having kids, so I started checking into short term disability for pregnancy through my work.  Well my work doesn't offer it at all so I'd have to take leave with out pay.  Like most families going 6 weeks on one pay check isn't going to cut it and trying to save 6 weeks worth of extra money to cover the bills is almost impossible.  I looked online for policies but no one will direct sell them to individuals.  Anyone have any suggestions or can share what they did to help with the income during leave?  Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about this.  I remember when I was pregnant that a bunch of ladies were talking about this in the tri boards (1st and 2nd).  Maybe you can ask there?  Any way you can supplement with vacation or sick time?  At least that will cover you for part of the time off.

That really stinks I went out on STD for 8 weeks and only received 66% of my pay, it was rough but it was necessary.  I don't know anything about supplemental policies really, I know my moms company uses aflac and she mentioned that her rep told her I could purchase a policy for myself.. maybe check into that?
