Ok, so I wasn't supposed to have a shower. My sister has finished having kids and has been kind enough to give me the majority of stuff that I need and I'm lucky enough that DH and I are in a position where we can purchase anything else we want/need. We did register for a few things though because I know some people will still want to send gifts when the baby is born.
Saturday night I came home to a surprise BBQ/mini-shower thrown by my sister and two best friends. My mom was also there along with everyone's husbands and kids. We had a great time, including a fantastic cake and there were gifts galore.
Question: Do I give hostess gifts for my mini-shower? Of the 5 women in attendance (including me) it was hosted by 3 of them. Is a gift over the top? Are thank you cards sufficient? For my two best friends we also skipped a baby shower and instead did a formal tea at the four seasons (it wasn't a surprise) and neither of them gave hostess gifts, just thank you notes. WDYT?

Excellent! Thanks ladies!
