2nd Trimester

Movement, then no movement??

I know it's early, but I have been feeling movement for about a week and a half.  Over the last few days, I haven't felt anything.  My mom chalks it up to being busy with some gardening and getting ready for the first day of school (today), but it's been about three days.  Maybe I'm just preoccupied or busy and am not noticing it?  Should I be worried?

  • I think you are still kinda early to be feeling consistent movement. Don't worry too much, the LO will be kicking the crap out of you in no time! Wink

  • Nah.. I had an appointment at 17 weeks and my OB said that depending on time of day, my position, babies activity etc, I'd be sometimes feeling something and sometimes not.. and that it shoudl get more frequent as the next weeks go on.
  • Thanks, ladies!!  I feel a little better now:)

I can't wait until he/she is kicking the crap out of me!!!

  • At this stage, when movement is still so subtle, it's really easy to miss it when you're busy. And if you're on the go and moving around a lot, that tends to lull the baby to sleep, too. Plus, they have a lot of room to move around and "hide" where you can't feel them. This baby had a "quiet period" a few weeks ago where I didn't feel it move for almost a week, and I remember having some nervous days when I was pregnant with DD as well.

That said, if you're concerned, call your doctor to see what s/he says... definitely go with your gut on this one.

  • I'm pretty sure over the last week and a half I've missed quite a bit of movement from being busy.

Because I was feeling it more often prior to that and today.

  • I have an anterior placenta, so I'm guessing that I'm feeling the equivalent of what an 18-19 week'er might feel...and I'm still not feeling a lot of movement. LO has been really quiet today, and it's driving me nuts!
  • There are some days, where my belly looks like a trampoline ... and then there will be a few days where I won't feel or see anything and I start to panic.  I know that this is TMI, but I'm pretty small, and I always feel the baby move after a large bowel movement ... I figure LO must be cramped and not moving much before the BM.  Sorry for the TMI ... but it's true!
  • I've heard it's normal to feel it for a while and then to disappear. The only time I think you should worry is when you're 7-8 months and feel nothing.
  • I haven't felt anything in a week so I'm nervous too!
  • You should not worry at all. You will not feel consistant movement until around 28 weeks. At 26 weeks, she moves on and off. One day she is busy as a bee, the next she sleeps most of the day.
