My bff has a mass in her abdomen. Around 5 months ago she told me that her stomach is getting bigger (she lives in Los Angeles, I live in Omaha) and she isn't gaining weight but her stomach looks pregnant. She goes to the doctor and has a whole GI work up and nothing. Fast forward to her getting pregnant. She is currently 14 weeks pregnant. She had her first u/s a couple weeks ago and the tech kept saying "oh my" and calling people in. She has this mass in her stomach. It starts at the top of her uterus (not in her uterus) and goes up under her ribs. It is all throughout her stomach. They think the pregnancy hormones have caused it to grow faster but that she probably has had it awhile. She went from the u/s to a specialist (immediately) and then followed up with a oncologist last week. She has to have it removed. They said it is bigger than a watermelon- but more spread out. They are hopeful that it isn't cancer but won't know until they get in there. They say the safest time for the surgery is when the baby is 16-18 weeks. so, in a couple weeks she will have the surgery. They are hopeful but extremely concerned.
I'm trying to have a positive attitude and be there for my friend. I can't stop crying though. Every time I talk to her I end up bawling. I need to be strong for her and pull it together. So, if you could keep her in your thoughts and prayers I would appreciate it. And if you could give me strength to be a good friend I would appreciate this also.
Re: Okay, I need suppport
Oh, I am so, so sorry. I will keep her in my thoughts.
Me with my littlest.
Lots of hugs to you and good wishes to her.
I can relate - my bff is having a lot of medical/fertility issues right now and we live in different cities. I just want to scoop her up and make everything okay.
You sound like a wonderful, supportive friend - I'm sure she's very grateful to have you to confide in.
Oh wow, I will definitely keep her in my prayers.
You are such a good friend- HUGS
