It's not technically school, but DS is going tomorrow

To Gymboree's Level 7 drop off program for 2 hours tomorrow.

They do preschool-ish things, have snacks, do art projects and, more importantly, it's without me there.

I actually have to hang around in case there's a meltdown since tomorrow is his first time, but after that, I'll be leaving him there for nearly 2 hours once a week.

I'm nervous.  He keeps asking me if I'm going to be with him and I tell him, excitedly, that he'll be there by himself because he's a big boy.

He'll be fine, I'm sure.  I'll be the one who needs consoling!

  • He's so grown up!!! It is so nerve-wracking at first. ?I remember those first days of preschool--so tough!! ?But after a few weeks, you will both absolutely love it!?

  • It may be hard for him at first, but I bet he'll LOVE it eventually.  Kate cried at drop off at her little playschool for about 3 weeks.  Now she ADORES it, talks about going back in September ALL. THE. TIME. and she learned a ton there.  I started her at 19 months, so she was way younger.  I bet he'll have a blast.
  • So exciting!!  I think DS is going to try the level 7 soon too, I can not wait!!  He is so comfortable at Gymboree though since he has been going since he was 4 months old and since I teach there he knows everyone and basically lives there.  So I am hoping it will be an easy transition for him especially since he has never been without me except for a few times that he has stayed with my parents when DH and I have gone to dinner and a movie or something.  GL!!

  • How old is he?

Last year, we sent our kids to a Mother's Day Out program once a week.  It was six hours long.  Ava was 3 and Logan was 1.  They freaked for a couple of months, but grew to tolerate it and eventually loved it.  They start again next week and they can't wait.  It is one of the best things I ever did for my children, to help them gain a little independence and self-esteem.  They are so much more at ease going into places like the church nursery or the YMCA day-care area.  It has been great.  I'm sure your little guy will do awesome, and since it's only for 2 hours, he'll quickly learn that you come back soon after he's dropped off.

Enjoy it!  The 2 hours free will fly by!
