What is your least favorite popular baby name?

A guy I went to high school with who is a "facebook friend" just had a little boy and named him Jaxson.  I am all for Jackson, but Jaxson, particularly the x AND s in the spelling irritates the bejebus out of me.

What is the name that irritates you?

Re: What is your least favorite popular baby name?

  • The name Justin Case drives me BATTY because of the double meaning (you know, had the third just in case....etc).  Batty.

I have a lot I don't love but this one is a particular pet peeve.  In general I can't stand when people use alternate spellings.

I wouldn't say these names "irritate" me, but I'm not a fan of all of the boys names that end in -den. You know, Hayden, Jayden, Aiden, Braeden, Kaden, etc.

    Sorry if that offends anyone!

I'm with you. I'm also completely over Ava.

  • Stop it with the Grace!!!
  • Jayden, Brayden, and Brady. I think they are terrible. I like Aiden, I just think it is overused.

  • Braiden/Brayden and Caden.

I have a friend named "Braden" and he's 34 years old and his name was original then.  Now I know 3 Brayden/Braidens.

  • My friend's cousin named her DD Alivia.  Everyone says it "ah-livia".  Oh, no-no, you see, it's "A-livia".

I don't so much mind the name as the annoying way she corrects anyone who dares say "ah-livia".  She doesn't just say, "It's A-livia.", she says, "OK, I'm going to say this one more time, it's A-livia....how hard is that?"

Pretty damn hard, especially when it gets her so worked up that my friend does it all the time just for fun.

Ditto this.  I don't think I had ever heard of Aiden (or any of its derivatives) until SATC, and loved it then.  But now that it seems like every other little boy I meet is something that rhymes with Aiden, I'm pretty over it.

  • I've never been a fan of Madison.  I don't think it's as popular as it used to be, though.

  • I hate it when nice family names that I love turn into popular names, like Grace.? (shut up gettinnervous, lol)

pretty much word for word what I was going to say.

  • I'm so sick of those boring, basic boy names. Yeah, wierd boy names are pretty awful to do to a boy, but "Michael" "Mathew" "Joseph", really? That's all you could come up with? There's only about 1.2 billion of those in the world.

  • I'm with you on the Jaxson, ugh. Like many of the pp, I'm just not into alternate spellings.
  • I am over Lily and Charlotte.  I know about a million of both names.  I realize Kate and Ben are not the most original names out there, but I feel like Lily and Charlotte came out of nowhere and are suddenly everywhere.  Double ditto that for Grace as a middle name.

This. I actually really like Aiden, but all the other stuff, not so much. I actually know a girl with a kid named Zaiden. Awful.

Also not a fan of Jaxson (I like Jackson, just not the weird spelling). I hate Madison and Addison.

  • I'm not a huge fan of names for girls like Morgan, Jordan, Taylor, etc. Come to think of it, I'm not a huge fan of them for boys either, LOL. They're not bad names per se, just totally nms.

I love, love, love names like Charlotte, Lily, Avery, Aiden, Ava, Emma, Grace, etc. but really dislike how trendy they've become. It's a shame since they're all such lovely names (we considered many of them.)

  • Grace as a middle name.  I just think it's way overused.

The -ayden names are pretty overdone, too.

I don't not like those names though, but I do dislike unique spellings.  That's my least favorite.

Ditto to the super popular names.

I'll add- I also get annoyed when people use super ethnic names that AREN'T their ethnicity!  It's just strange to me. We have friends, a hispanic couple, who named their son Aaron Jacob.  Strange.

I told Dh we should have named Gracie after my Aunt Anastasia but he thought it was "too over the top."? :)
    .
  • I LIKE it as a first name though!  I just see it so much as a middle name.  :)

I like Anastasia too, beautiful name!

Easy now. Many people love the classic names, they never go out of style. There was plenty we could come up with, but Matthew means "gift from God," and after almost 2 years of trying, it was appropriate.

Sorry to get offended, but if you would have just said "eh, I don't really care for it," I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

    Happy 4th birthday!

I think this is funny because I almost prefer classic names to trendy names. I am so sick of people trying to sound original...to the point where they are not original at all..and the whole "sounds made-up" name trend. Classic names are actually more rare these days. BUT I also always said I like more classic names for boys anyway.
  • My sister has a friend who named his DS Jaxson and they call him Jax. Which I have never heard of. I wonder if they are the same guy?

We have friends that their last name is Case and when they found out they were having a boy we always teased them and asked if they were going to name him Justin.

I love classic names. Both my girls have older classic names.

  • Emily, but that's mostly due to association. Not real big on most biblical or traditional classic names either.
