I don't remember when she (DD#2) started...probably pretty early because she has a big sister. DD#2 is about 31mo old & can count to 13 if she wants to...if not (meaning she's prompted) she'll only count to 6 or 7.

DS counts to 20 (well, he calls 20 "twenty-teen", but that's OK) and has for a while now...since at least 2.
However, he only recently started getting the actual concept of counting beyond 2. Now when he sees 4 or 5 things he understands there are 4 or 5, before he just randomly counted using rote memorization. He understood the concept of up to 2 objects at maybe 21 months or so.

Kate is 2 yrs 4 months. She's recognized her numbers since around 19 months, counted to 20 since about then also (rote memorization), and counted 2 objects around then too. It is only recently that she knows 3 or 4 objects and associates numbers with quantities. She'd count stairs as she walked up them earlier, but seeing things and then knowing how many there are took longer.
Re: Counting?
DD counted to 3 today:) She is 22 months.
DS counts to 20. He is 3.3.
DD's been counting at least to 3 since around 16 mos.
She's 27 mos and counts to 14 or so (after that, she jumbles the numbers around).
