TTC After a Loss

I was okay until just now

I just found out that our insurance does not cover anything related to infertility. No testing, treatment, prescriptions related to a diagnosis of IF... I'm a wreck. I dont know what to do, because we can't afford anything on our own. Any suggestions?

  • DH and I are in the same boat. We just decided to do our best with what we can afford and hope & pray for the best. I wish I had better advice for you, but so far it's all we have come up with! ((hugs))

  • You should ask your doctor how they can code things. For instance, our RE is coding everything related to RPL, which is covered. I think I've read about some people getting stuff coded as irregular cycles, or something like that. Our RE said that usually you can get "testing" covered (there are often other issues that are covered than just plan infertility), but she said treatment is often when people find themselves paying OOP.

Disclaimer- I'm not suggesting anyone have things coded that are false- but sometimes care can be linked to another aspect of the problem (e.g not fertility).

  • I'm sorry.  We're self-employed so our health insurance sucks a big one with that stuff too.  Are you moving for more than Clomid? I know that my Dr. has been awesome to make sure I get the generic vs. the namebrand stuff (Clomid up here is $115 a cycle but the generic is only $18 and it worked for me the first time!)

  • I'm sorry, I don't know what to suggest.  DH and I have both decided that any further testing for us is out also, with two healthy children already, it's not in our finances.  Here's wishing for some good options, or better yet a BFP sticky soon.
