And your MIL was in charge today, and last night you swept the house for any open containers of anything and threw out two empty cans. Let's then say your MIL has no idea where he got it from (likely one she opened but does not remember) and he was buzzed beyond belief at naptime.

If it's an every once in awhile thing, I probably would let it slide. If not, just tell her not to give it to him.

She babysits 2-3 mornings every week and she's saying she doesn't know where he got it from. I believe she's forgetting the fact that it is 99% likely that she opened the can and then forgot she did so since he cannot open soda cans himself.
I think our concern comes in not really with him drinking it but rather that she's becoming forgetful...
Yes, that would concern me. If she forgets walking to the frig, removing a can and opening it what else is she forgetting? God knows what she could leave lying around for your kids.
Then I would have a whole different set of concerns. Does she forget other things too?
