Prednisone

Is anyone else taking Prednisone? I am taking 60 mg everyday and I feel like I'm going insane. I can't sit down! I started taking it last Tuesday and I haven't slept more than 2-3 hours each night.I am also experiencing the worst acid reflux you can imagine. If you are taking or have taken this medicine, please tell me how to manage, I have to take it for 6 more months and I honestly don't think I can do it with my sanity still in place.

I wish I had words of encouragement - it seems like some of the side effects hit people different (I was on & off of it for years, my mom just started another round of it after being on & off of it for ten years). I had total feelings of being absolutely insane on it, it gave me a rash that never 100% went away on my arms among other lovely things...

What type of food are you taking the medication with? I found simple things like half of a bagel or an english muffin helped keep the acid reflux feeling at bay.

The acid reflux is an all day thing, it feels like somebody lit a fire in my esophagus. Im starting to lose my voice from it. I try to eat pretty bland foods cause I know I will be paying for it later. My doctor didnt discuss much of the side effects except for the weight gain and mood swings, so Im sure the acid reflux is just one of many he 'forgot' to mention. Did you ever take Prilosec or anything to help?

I didn't, I just stuck to a really bland diet.

What time of day are you taking it? My dr recommended I take it in the mornings as it will keep you up at night. I found that I had a ton of energy all the time though...good luck. Maybe they can prescribe something for the heartburn so you can get som relief?

I take it right after breakfast. I have an appointment Friday so I'm hoping/praying he will prescribe me something.

I have been on prednisone for abt 6 weeks now (starting at 60mg) and I feel your pain!! ITS TTHE WORST drug ive ever taken....fortunately it is so effective though! I feel like a psycho crazy person on it, cant sleep, mood swings, weight gain etc.......I am on it for asthma realted issues..is this the same for you? My pulmonologist has me now taking prilosec (i was taking pepcid and he wanted to switch it) reflux is a common s/s w/ asthma as well as pregnancy.......
