Mother of the Year

Last night while standing in line at Target waiting to check out, I witnessed one of the saddest encounters between mother and child.  A little girl between 1 1/2 and 2 years old was standing in the shopping basket.  I could tell she had been crying, but she wasn't crying anymore.  She stood there silent with her fingers in her mouth just staring.  All of a sudden, her (poor excuse for a) mother kicks off her flip flop and shakes it at the little girl's face while she says, "Hush your mouth!  HUSH YOUR MOUTH!"  I was so sad as the little girl looked at me silent, afraid to even smile back when I smiled at her.

What do you do in situations like this?  I wanted to kick that b!tch's @$$.

  • Yikes! You really don't do anything, but I have some things in mind I'd want to say to her! It scares me that if they're willing to act like that in public, how are they treating their child at home?

  • I hate to see little ones being treated that way!  Makes me want to take them home with me.  What do you do though, you can voice your opinion, but that wont matter.  I just give the child a smile, with the look that everything will be ok to let them know, not everyone will treat them badly :-/

This and it just breaks my heart.
